Oh What a Year!

2014 was going to be a bittersweet year for us, after 10 years in the Philippines, we knew we would be leaving our beloved Iloilo, moving to Thailand later in the year. The year began in the usual way with the Timothy Internship Program. This internship we trained and equipped six interns. Things in Iloilo took on a "one last" aspect, for example one last trip to Guimaras, we still miss the mangos. One last time riding on top of a jeepney. In April we reduced our worldly possessions to a few bags, a box, a dog carrier (yes our dog Sam made the move with us) and we moved to Chiang Rai, Thailand. Our beautiful and brand new home in Thailand. Got a car and started driving on the left side of the road, it's not as difficult as you may think. Got a scooter! Our favorite way to get around. Off to 7-11 in this picture. Started new schools, Gabi is going to an all Thai preschool. Eric, Faith, and Daniel attend Chiang Rai International School...

After Ten Amazing Years in the Philippines, We are Now in Thailand!

Traditionally when a missionary family makes a transition from one country to another, they have a Stateside trip in between to prepare them for the new nation. After much prayer and consideration, we felt that we were to make the move to Thailand directly from the Philippines. With a joyful but also heavy heart, we said goodbye to our Filipino home and on April 15, 2014, we moved to Thailand. We did some serious downsizing, we were able to reduce our family belongings to just a few suitcases and boxes. At the Manila airport on the big moving day, about to get on our flight to Thailand. We have been in country for less than a month. During that time we started language learning, we bought a car and started to learn to drive on the left side of the road (it’s easier than you think), Gabriella started preschool at a Thai school, and we started doing ministry. Driving on the left side of the road will take some getting used to, but so far so good. Lunchtime ...

This is Next!

We are moving! We informed many of you when we visited the States this summer. In case our paths did not cross, we are announcing that we are moving to Thailand. Our target date is June 2014. We will be moving directly from the Philippines to Thailand. Our last few months here will be full, working with our missionary team, directing another Timothy Internship Program, and also one last Summer at Camp Sonshine Philippines. We are very excited about this next nation. In Thailand we will continue to work with the Go To Nations teams throughout the Asia-Pacific region. We will also be involved in teaching in Bible schools, and we will also help rescue individuals enslaved in human trafficking. We are confident Christ has called us to Thailand. This is the next nation for us to make history. Please keep our family in prayer.

March 28, 1995

Where were you on March 28, 1995? I know exactly where I was on that day. I was in the Philippines then, in a remote area of Mindanao called Tagoloan, near the bigger city of Cagayan de Oro. I was in the Philippines on a missions internship, working as an associate pastor with a network of local churches. A man approached me telling me that he has been instructed to inform me that I needed to be at the airport in Cagayan de Oro at a certain time that afternoon, I was to meet an arriving passenger (I had no idea who, but I was told that the arriving passenger would know me), and there I would receive further instructions. It all sounded kind of mysterious to me, but I told the stranger that I would be at the airport at the assigned time. The pastors I was working with agreed to accompany me. I went about my business of the day. We were starting to work on doing Camp Sonshine with the churches there. I had counselor training in the morning, and then we were going to visit with s...

Year in Review

2012 was yet another amazing year for our family.      Eric started working at a local coffee shop ministry called FUEL . Eric is a volunteer, learning barista skills. Chris started ministering along side Go To Nations missionaries Natalie Mattes and Yolanda Ortega , working with them at the San Isidro Relocation village and also at the Calajunan city trash dump site.   Of course she continues to work with the Sonshine Center and the preschool and the scholarship program.   We start every year with our Timothy Internship Program. This year we had our largest batch ever, fifteen interns .    Here are eight of them on a trisikad, I think they could fit at least one more. Of course we continued to work with Camp Sonshine Philippines and the summer camps. Once again,we ministered to over 1,000 kids.   Eric, Faithy, and Danny are not campers anymore, they are assistant counselors, helping with games . . . helping with crafts . . .    helping lead assembly . . .   hel...

Daniel Patrick Anasco, Age 6, "FBI"

I hope you, dear reader, have been fortunate enough to know our second born son, Daniel Patrick Anasco. If you have been so lucky, then you know an amazing boy, full of life, full of joy. As you may remember, Daniel was born here in Iloilo. He is what they call an "FBI," a Full Blooded Ilonggo. His birth day story is an amazing testimony of God's faithfulness. It is hard to believe that was six years ago today. A few minutes old. I look like my Dad, the late Dr. Anasco. Age one. Age two. Age three. Age four, his first day of preschool. Age five, facing the Dark Side. A few days before his sixth birthday.
