Big Summer then Back to Thailand

You may have seen on social media, or heard through the grapevine, our family had a pretty big summer.

On June 6 our oldest daughter, Faith, got married. She is now Mrs. Steven Shanen! They were wed in Santa Barbara, CA. Even with world wide travel so impacted due to the current medical crisis, our whole family (and many extended family) was able to join this blessed event.

Our summer continued with us enjoying time in America with family and friends, but now we are back in Thailand. The Kingdom of Thailand severely restricts entry into the country, and our re-entry process was very challenging with many ups and downs and times when were not sure if we were even going to return to our mission. Thankfully the Lord was more than faithful amidst the different challenges--we safely returned to Chiang Rai on August 5.

We continue to serve our Go To Nations missionary team in Chiang Rai as well as the missionary community at large by working at the Chiang Rai International Christian School (CRICS). This will be Chris' fourth year as elementary principal, Daniel is in grade 10 and Gabi is in grade 6. I also serve in the school IT department. To learn more about CRICS and also to see how you can bless the school, watch this 5 minute video.

We are so happy to be back in our Thailand home, and we expect great things from this year.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.
Proverbs 3: 5, 6

Our family grew! We gained a son! We are so glad Faith found a godly, Christ-like husband, and we wholeheartedly welcome Steven into our family.
Back in the saddle again, so to speak. It is going to be another amazing year!
We love learning and serving at CRICS.

Departing

Leaping off the Leadership Development post, I have some somewhat sad news. Chris and the kids will be leaving for the States this Saturday. They leave for Manila on Friday, and then fly onward to the States on Saturday, arriving in Baltimore around midnight (Maryland time) Saturday evening. Why is this sad? My responsibilities with the internship require me to say in Iloilo until the internship is completed. I will be returning to the States March 23. We have never been apart as a family for so long. Honestly I am very much not looking forward to being away from my family. I am not looking at this as a "break" from my kids so I can finally do some "real ministry." I am willing to fulfill my responsibilities here in Iloilo, especially as it involves training future full-time missionaries. However, I am not at all looking forward to being apart from my most favorite people in the world. The reason why Chris needs to leave for the States at this time is beca...

Empowering the Next Generation

A big step in becoming a missionary with Go To Nations is the Timothy Internship Program . This is a 10 week boot camp that prepares you for full time missionary service in a foreign country. I call it a missionary factory. Chris and I were directors of this internship in the Philippines, Thailand, and the US. Recently I traveled to the Philippines to equip and empower Jeff Weimert  and Ryan Hull  to be the directors of the ...
